Cathryn GrantCathryn Grant’s Suburban Noir World

Suburban Noir fiction reveals a world where psychological suspense meets psychological horror. The characters are wounded and flawed, yearning for something they can’t define. A few of them are more than a bit off balance, driven to crime by mental and emotional forces they’re unable to control.

In Suburban Noir stories you’ll discover fictional neighborhoods populated by individuals who are obsessed, paranoid, desperate to find happiness, and clinging to their sense of security. Sometimes, they find redemption.

In its heyday, Noir Fiction illustrated a subterranean stream of discontent, a sense that the so-called “good life” wasn’t really that good — that it was actually quite toxic, because it was based on envy, greed, and materialism. Those things lurk behind the suburban veneer of manicured yards, designer furniture, and exotic vacations, fast-paced careers and super-children. Beneath that? Fear.

dwgnowDonald Grant’s Poetry

Men are often considered unemotional.  At least less emotional than women.  I do not think that is true.  I believe men just express their emotions differently. For me, it is usually by writing my thoughts about whatever bothers, excites, or saddens me.  More often than not this takes the form of poetry.

Over the years, having had a myriad of experiences and careers, I have accumulated poems that at the time expressed my feelings or opinions about life.  My poems are an expression of the joy, anger, love, hate, bewilderment, and awe of my experiences. As one reviewer has said, my poems are “a rare opportunity to look into the soul of a man”.  My hope is that as read them you will feel the emotion behind each one, and that some will make you tear up, laugh, and hopefully, think.
